2025 Patty Kazmaier Award Slated To Be Announced March 22 At Women’s Frozen Four

Live Announcement Show To Air On NHL Network at 11:30 a.m. CT

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The 2025 Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award will be presented to the top player in NCAA Division I women’s ice hockey during a live television broadcast on the NHL Network as part of the NCAA Women’s Frozen Four.

The show, which is part of Saturday at the NCAA Women’s Frozen Four, will take place Saturday (March 22) from the McNamara Alumni Center on the campus of the University of Minnesota. Doors open at 11 a.m. CT and the 30-minute show, hosted by NHL Network’s Lauren Gardner, will start promptly at 11:30 a.m. Fans are welcome to attend the ceremony, which is free of charge.

Following the show, those in attendance will have the opportunity to get autographs from previous Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award winners AJ Mleczko (Harvard, 1999), Krissy Wendell (Minnesota, 2005), Kendall Coyne Schofield (Northeastern, 2016) and Taylor Heise (Minnesota, 2022).

2025 PATTY KAZMAIER MEMORIAL AWARD SHOW

The presentation of the 2025 Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award to the top player in NCAA Division I women's ice hockey for 2024-25 will take place Saturday (March 22) at McNamara Alumni Center on the campus of the University of Minnesota. The ceremony, part of Saturday at the NCAA Women's Frozen Four, will begin promptly at 11:30 a.m. CT, with doors opening at 11:00 a.m.  The three finalists – including Laila Edwards (Cleveland Heights, Ohio/University of Wisconsin), Caroline Harvey (Salem, N.H./University of Wisconsin) and Casey O’Brien (Milton, Mass./University of Wisconsin), will be in attendance for the Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award Show – and one will be named the 28th recipient of the prestigious honor.

Past winners of the award will be on hand, in addition to teams participating in the 2025 NCAA Women’s Frozen Four.

ABOUT THE PATTY KAZMAIER MEMORIAL AWARD

An award of The USA Hockey Foundation, the Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award is annually presented to the top player in NCAA Division I women's ice hockey. Selection criteria includes outstanding individual and team skills, sportsmanship, performance in the clutch, personal character, competitiveness and a love of hockey. ABOUT PATTY KAZMAIER

The Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award is named in honor of the late Patty Kazmaier, who was a four-year varsity letter-winner and All-Ivy League defenseman at Princeton University from 1981-86. An accomplished athlete who helped lead the Tigers to the Ivy League Championship in three consecutive seasons (1981-84), Patty Kazmaier-Sandt died Feb. 15, 1990, at the age of 28 following a long struggle with a rare blood disease.
